RiverFest: Engaging Communities in the Bow River Watershed
The Youth and Young Professionals Committee (YPC) of the Bow River Basin Council (BRBC), in collaboration with Bow River Brewing, hosted RiverFest, an inspiring event that brought communities together to celebrate and learn about the Bow River watershed.
Attendees had the chance to explore the river as a living ecosystem while engaging with BRBC’s State of the Watershed Report, a key resource for understanding ecosystem health and the challenges facing our shared water.
A highlight of the event was the interactive watershed model activity, where participants used paints to represent minerals, nutrients, and other materials before simulating rainfall. This hands-on demonstration vividly showed how water carries substances throughout the watershed, sparking thoughtful conversations about water quality and human impact.
We extend our gratitude to Bow River Brewing for generously hosting, and to the dedicated volunteers who made RiverFest possible. Events like these strengthen community connections and inspire collective action to protect the Bow River watershed.
The Youth and Young Professionals Committee is always looking for new events to plan in the watershed! If you have an idea for a future event, or are interested in joining the committee, please visit the committee page on our website.
