Youth and Young Professionals Committee

Role
To engage and promote participation of youth (ages 8-18), students, and young professionals (ages 19-35) in water-related activities within the Bow River Basin, and to develop future leaders in the Bow River Basin Council (BRBC).
The Youth and Young Professionals Committee objectives are to:
Provide opportunities for students and young professionals entering the workforce to engage and become leaders in the Bow River Basin.
Seek opportunities to involve youth, students, and young professionals in the activities of the BRBC.
Educate and engage youth, students, and young professionals in topics of interest/concern (including the state of the basin and the role of the BRBC).
Key Activities
Plan and organize tours and/or presentations of water and watershed related projects to increase awareness and knowledge and to generate interest in watershed issues.
Develop or provide support alongside other BRBC standing committees to coordinate and organize events (e.g., science forums, workshops and roadshows) and produce documents or other media.
Support BRBC social media presence, website maintenance, and/or event planning.
Support programs/events/presentations intended for elementary, middle school, and high school audiences.
Membership and Meetings
There are approximately 40 BRBC members on this committee at any given time; approximately 15 are ‘active’ or highly-involved members.
The committee meets a minimum of 4 times per year (or as required) and may do so in person, by conference call, or online.
