Legislation and Policy Committee

Role

To consider and recommend municipal, provincial and federal water legislation and policy to the Board of Directors that may affect watershed management in the Bow River Basin.

Key Activities

  • Consider matters of legislation and policy referred by the BRBC membership, Board of Directors, Alberta Water Council, or others.

  • Review water management frameworks, plans, and policy.

  • Provide comments and recommendations to the BRBC, the Alberta Water Council, and the province.

  • Consider Alberta’s Water for Life (Provincial Water Strategy) and provide a process for consultation and review of proposed implementation of objectives and strategies.

  • Host annual workshops on current topics of interest.

Membership and Meetings

  • Approximately 10 BRBC members regularly attend committee meetings, and there are approximately 20 other BRBC members who participate online and through workshops

  • The committee meets a minimum of six times a year (or as required) and may do so in person, by conference call, or online.
